Gold medal for China, Fontana good bronze

Arianna is ready for the World Military Winter Games

Enhanced her invincible reputation when she retained her Olympic women's 500 metres short track speedskating title on Wednesday. Canada's Marianne St Gelais drew deafening cheers from the home crowd as she celebrated her 20th birthday with a silver medal and Italy's Arianna Fontana picked up the bronze.

Petra Majdic won a Winter Olympics cross country bronze but deserved a special medal for extraordinary valour after conquering an excruciating injury over three races before painfully climbing to the podium. Her revange will be at the first World Military Winter Games Valle d’Aosta 20-25 mars 2010.
