Big challenges in Gressoney, Pila and Brusson
After the Winter Olympic Games of Vancouver, many athletes, who attended the Canadian event, will be busy with World Cup competitions and with the first edition of the Winter Military World Games Aosta Valley 2010, the greatly expected event scheduled from 20th to 25th March. In some days, there will be the official confirmation of the names of our most important military athletes, who should attend the Games.
First of all the recent gold medal Giuliano Razzoli, and, with him, the other slalom athlete Manfred Moelegg, and the giant slalom athletes Alexander Ploner and Alberto Schieppati will look for some medals on the snow of Pila. The Italian ladies Manuela Moelgg, Nicole Gius, Federica Brignone and Denise Karbon will face the French Olivia Bertrand and Ingrid Jacquemod. In Cogne there will be the very interesting 15 km cross-country skiing competition, attended by the Swiss Dario Cologna, who won the 15 km free-technique race, followed by the Italian athlete Pietro Piller Cottrer; there will also be the French Vincent Vittoz (fifth at the Olympics), the Swiss Toni Livers, Remo Fisher and Paul Curdin, all among the first seventeen athletes in the Olympic race. The competition ladies will take place on a 10 km track, and, among the most expected athletes, there will be the Russian Natalia Korosteleva, who got good results during the World Cup, but didn’t obtained much during the Olympics.
The French Vincent Jay, gold medal in the 10 km sprint and bronze medal in the 12,5 km pursuit, will attend the Biathlon competitions, while the competition ladies is still open, and the women athletes will fight to win the prestigious title of the First Winter Military World Games.
