First day of Winter Military World Games 2010 Aosta Valley

Alpine Ski, France obtains the gold medal in the giant with Theaux. Moelgg and Blardone on the podium. Razzoli is seventh. Gold medal to Italy for ski mountaineering with Manfred Reichegger and Dennis Brunod

(Aosta, March 21st , 2010). Surprising victory of French athlete Adrien Theaux who won the first gold medal of the discipline during the first day of races of the Winter Military World Games, still on course in the Aosta Valley. Good performance also for the Italian team which ranked second Manfred Moelgg (Fiamme Gialle), with a gap of 75 cents from the winner, and Max Blardone (Fiamme Gialle) ranked third. Fourth place for Alexander Ploner (Carabinieri). The colorful foreign delegations animated the ring. The winner Theaux states at the end of the race: “I'm very happy for having brought to France the first gold medal, being able to overcome the great Italian champions of this discipline.” Also satisfied was Moelgg for his good result; he has nicely joked with his colleague Blardone: “I succeed in taking back the 2 cents which Max has given me in Garmisch. I'm confident for the special due on Tuesday, even though Giuliano is the favorite.”

 

In the meantime Manfred Reichegger and Dennis Brunod from Army Sport Center obtain in Flassin the very first medal of the event, arriving ahead at the finish line of Foyer de Fond. A long downhill run towards the finish line made absolutely without worries. Little less than 10' to cover 1500 mt of difference of height and the solo arrival at Foyer de Fond: 1h 34' 38'' is the time of the two alpine soldiers, those who won the first gold medal of the first Winter Military World Games. Many people and load of applause at the flower ceremony, with the presence of the regional councillor for sport of the Valle d'Aosta Autonomous Region, Aurelio Marguerettaz.

This evening the programme dedicated to the  Winter Military World Games starts on Rai Sport Più, with the presence of Andrea Bettini, every day from 10.15 to 11.00 pm. Images, interviews and curios on the event.

Gran Prix CISM, successful first cross-country’s test

The winners are Cristina Artuso (Army) and Stefano Scaini (Fiamme Gialle)

The Cross-country Grand Prix CISM took place within the first Winter Military World Games; cross-country was a discipline presented as a demonstrative sport. The race, which covered a distance of 4600 mt for women and of 6900 mt for men, was opened to the FIDAS enrolled.
