Vancouver Olympics Gold Medal Razzoli performed in Slalom for the first time in Italy. Denise Karbon wins in the Giant Slalom

The Norwegian athlete Gjedrem wins successfully in Biathlon, Martinelli ranks third.
In the female competition the Polish athlete Palka reaches the top and the outstanding performance of Fiandino brings her to the podium.

(Aosta, 22 March 2010). Giuliano Razzoli will compete in Slalom tomorrow at 9 a.m. in Pila for the first competition. It is the very first time that the champion of Villa Minozzo will perform in Italy as Gold Medal Winner. Meanwhile yesterday during the Giant Slalom in Gressoney Saint-Jean the Italian team stood out thanks to the victory of Denise Karbon of Fiamme Gialle (time 2’20”23) and the first place reached by Irene Curtoni of the Army Sport Club, time 2’20”25. The german athlete Fanny Chamelar ranked third, time 2’20”56. The performance of Federica Brignone (Carabinieri) has been unsuccessful: in the first competition she was first while in the second one she unluckily went off the track at the fourth from the last gate. The performance of the Genoese Anna Marconi of the Army Team has been really satisfying. The two Austrian athletes, Michaela Noesig and Martina Geisler, ranked respectively fifth and sixth. Before the competition the French athlete Ingrid Jacquemod was among the favourites, but unfortunately she reached just the eighth place.

Today is the first day for Biathlon in Brusson: the Norwegian athlete Martin Gjedrem and the Polish athlete Krystyna Palka conquered the Gold Medal in Sprint. Italians win two Bronze Medals thanks to Christian Martinelli and Roberta Fiandino, in addition to several good rankings.

The Norwegian athlete Hans Martin Gjedrem wins the 10 Km Biathlon Sprint competition. This morning, on the track Trois Villages in Brusson Gjedrem, despite two errors on the shooting range, has imposed his score with time 29’27”7; after him with 6”8 delay but without errors on the shooting range, ranks the Estonian Roland Lessing and the Bronze Medal goes to Christian Martinelli of Carabinieri Army with 20”2 delay and two errors on the shooting range. And then two other Italian athletes followed: Mattia Cola of Financial Police at the fourth place (time 25”7; 0 0) and the alpine Markus Windisch of Alto Adige ranked fifth (time 25”8; 1 0).

In the female competition, the Polish Krystyna Palka without errors on the shooting range finished with time 22’59”3, followed by the Chinese athlete Chun Li Wang with 16”2 delay and one error on the shooting range; Roberta Fiandino of the Army performed well and ranked third with 22”2 delay without errors on the shooting range. The Norwegian Anne Ingstadbjoerg gained the fourth place with 29”7 while the Russian Mariya Sadilova with 39”7 delay reached the fifth place. The other Italian athletes ranked 13th, 21st and 24th, respectively Christa Perathoner, Michela Andreola and Barbara Ertl.

This evening the results of the final Indoor-Climbing competition will be published.
