Italian athletes record a crushing victory in Gressoney
Italy scores twice in Giant Slalom competitions in Gressoney Saint-Jean. Denis Karbon wins while Irene Curtoni ranks second.
In the Giant Slalom competition italian Athletes had great success through the victory of Denise Karbon of the Fiamme Gialle, time 2’20”23 and the first place conquered by Irene Curtone of the Army Sport Club, time 2’20”25. The german athlete Fanny Chamelar ranked third, time 2’20”56. The performance of Federica Brignone (Carabinieri) has been unsuccessful: in the first competition she was fist while in the second one she unluckily went off the track at the fourth from the last gate. The performance of the Genoese Anna Marconi of the Army Team has been really satisfying. The two Austrian athletes, Michaela Noesig and Martina Geisler, ranked respectively fifth and sixth. Before the competition the French athlete Ingrid Jacquemod was among the favourites, but unfortunately she reached just the eighth place.
Norwey conquers the Gold Medal thanks to Gjedrem and the polish athlete Palka ranks first. Bronze Medal for Italian athletets Martinelli and Fiandino
Today is the first day for Biathlon in Brusson and Gold Medals in Sprint were conquered by the Norwegian athlete Martin Gjedrem and the Polish athlete Krystyna Palka. Italians win two Bronze Medals thanks to Christian Martinelli and Roberta Fiandino, in addition to several good rankings.
The Norwegian athlete Hans Martin Gjedrem wins the 10 Km Biathlon Sprint competition. This morning, on the track Trois Villages in Brusson Gjedrem, despite two errors on the shooting range, has imposed his score with time 29’27”7; after him with 6”8 delay but without errors on the shooting range, ranks the Estonian Roland Lessing and the Bronze Medal goes to the Christian Martinelli of Carabinieri Army with 20”2 delay and two errors on the shooting range. And then two other Italian athletes followed: Mattia Cola of Financial Police at the fourth place (time 25”7; 0 0) and the alpine Markus Windisch of Alto Adige ranked fifth (time 25”8; 1 0).
First day of Winter Military World Games 2010 Aosta Valley
Alpine Ski, France obtains the gold medal in the giant with Theaux. Moelgg and Blardone on the podium. Razzoli is seventh. Gold medal to Italy for ski mountaineering with Manfred Reichegger and Dennis Brunod
(Aosta, March 21st , 2010). Surprising victory of French athlete Adrien Theaux who won the first gold medal of the discipline during the first day of races of the Winter Military World Games, still on course in the Aosta Valley. Good performance also for the Italian team which ranked second Manfred Moelgg (Fiamme Gialle), with a gap of 75 cents from the winner, and Max Blardone (Fiamme Gialle) ranked third. Fourth place for Alexander Ploner (Carabinieri). The colorful foreign delegations animated the ring. The winner Theaux states at the end of the race: “I'm very happy for having brought to France the first gold medal, being able to overcome the great Italian champions of this discipline.” Also satisfied was Moelgg for his good result; he has nicely joked with his colleague Blardone: “I succeed in taking back the 2 cents which Max has given me in Garmisch. I'm confident for the special due on Tuesday, even though Giuliano is the favorite.”
